Our Different Steel Tubing Options
As a customer of stainless steel tubing, having multiple options available that can fit your specific project needs is something we pride ourselves on. Here at Atlas Steel, we have three kinds of high-quality stainless steel tubing for clients to pick from for their project.
In this month’s blog, we’re highlighting our stainless steel tubing inventory and examples of where it serves our customers in their projects.
Our Steel Tubing Products
As a single resource producer, here at Atlas Steel we provide tubing from aluminized carbon, galvanized, cold-rolled and hot-rolled, as well as austenitic (300 series) and ferritic (400 series) stainless and aluminized stainless steel. Thanks to our extensive inventory and processing capabilities, our customers gain the ability to consolidate their supplier base, reduce lead times, reduce paperwork, and improve efficiency.
Austenitic (300 Series) Stainless Tubing
This steel tubing is a type of seamless or welded tubing made from a specific family of stainless steel alloys known for their excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and formability. Examples of applications that this tubing is used for are:
- Furnace parts
- Aerospace components
- Chemical processing equipment
- Exhaust systems
Ferritic (400 series) Stainless Tubing
This stainless steel tubing is known for its strength, wear resistance, and cost-effectiveness, particularly in demanding environments. Not to mention, because its ferritic it can benefit situations with its magnetic properties as well. Examples of where this tubing is used are:
- Heat exchangers
- Ovens
- Chimney liners
- Hot water tanks
Carbon and Coated Steel Tubing
Carbon steel tubing is made primarily from iron and carbon, offering high strength and durability but limited corrosion resistance. Coated steel tubing combines the strength of carbon steel with the corrosion protection of a stainless steel layer, often resulting in cost savings compared to solid stainless steel tubing.
Examples of appliances for carbon and coated steel tubing are:
- Structural components
- Pipelines
- Steam transport
- Conveying systems
